In North Vancouver, numerous RCMP officers rushed to an underground car park on Saturday evening after a security guard reported seeing a group of men in bulletproof vests carrying rifles.

It turned out to be an amateur film set and the gun was fake.

Police discovered the men had come to watch an action movie at a car park on Marine Drive but did not have a permit. Nearby businesses and residents were notified about the filming.

Police said the film crew was given a warning and provided with information about city rules regarding filming in public places.

Constable Mansour Sahak said North Vancouver RCMP take calls involving firearms very seriously and will always respond with a level of force appropriate to the actual incident.

“We are pleased that no one was seriously injured while responding to the potential threat,” Sahak said in a statement, adding that responding to such incidents undermines police’s ability to respond to genuine emergencies.
